Hia all
Could you tell me why when i down load a image after taking it on the highest jpeg setting on my 20d is the resolution set to 72 ppi? can this be increased in camera or does it have to be done in ps. When i have viewed images taken on my d70 nikon they come out at 300 dpi? very confusing think i,ll go back to print film.

That is the print resolution of 72 ppi or dpi, and it means nothing at all coming out of the camera. If a tag of 300 dpi had been placed there, you would have had the exact same RAW image.

When you get the file to the computer, you can convert it to be 300 or whatever your heart desires. In general, it doesn't mean anything until you are ready to print, and sometimes not even then.

This has got to be one of the most often asked questions I've seen. Maybe this or one of the other similar threads should be made into a sticky.
