EDIT: (doh screwed up the title. should read 5MDH - sorry for typos - on antibiotics for couple of weeks that are screwing with my head a little)
I am finally upgrading to a dSLR and will be getting a couple of lenses.
I plan on getting the Rebel T2i (EOS 550D) when it is available. Already have a 28-135mm EF IS USM lens and will also get a 50mm 1.8 (Nifty Fifty).
In the future I'd like to add a Speedlite 430EX II.
Would all this fit nicely in a 5MDH along with couple of batteries etc? I mainly want to be able to easily carry my gear and quickly have access to it for getting that shot while chasing my 2 year old around when we travel.
If it will all fit then what are the odds that a Vixia HF100 would also fit instead of a lens or flash?
I don't really want to go bigger than a 5MDH.
Any feedback is greatly appreciated :) Thanks!

Probably.
In the past I've carried my 20D, with Tamron 17-50 mounted, along with either 100mm macro or 28 1/.8, and my canon 580exii in the case.
My bag config looks like this... (sorry about the poor ASCII drawing)
The (X) 580exII in the left most area, the extra lens (Y) in middle bottom area, and (Z) camera with lens, mounted downward in the right/top area.

why not a 6MDH? the size difference is negligible between the 2.
i can carry one body with lens mounted, 2 extra lenses and a flash. i could probably also squeeze a nifty in there is i needed to, right in the center next to the lens mounted on cam.

x2, and I even have one I am trying to get rid of.

Thanks for the feedback so far.
If I can fit everything comfortably in a 5MDH I don't see the need to carry around a bigger bag or spending the extra money.
Based on the images in the link below, while the 6MDH isn't a ton bigger than the 5MDH it is still quite a bit bulkier overall.

If I end up getting bigger lenses in the future or upgrading other equipment I can always sell the 5 and move to a 6.

You can get the 6mdh for less than the 5mdh here and have room to grow or put other stuff in it.

I currently have the 5, 6 and 7 MDH's. For what the O.P. is looking for, I think the 5 is well suited.
My 5MDH serves as my light bag for my 20D w/lens attached + 1 extra lens + flash. It's small, light and unobtrusive.
My 6MDH serves as my medium bag, for my 5dMkII w/24-70L attached, 1 or 2 extra lenses, + flash. It's significantly bigger than the 5MDH, but not cumbersome.
My 7MDH is used when I'm feeling adventurous and want to carry 1 body and most of other my gear. My shoulder and back don't like me very much when I go out with this setup

I don't think you'll have any issues fitting the equipment you listed in the 5MDH. I use mine to hold a 40D with the 24-105 attached and have room for a smaller prime (50 1.8 or 35 2) underneath. This still leaves room for either a flash (580) or my 70-300 on the side.

Based on feedback from here and much research I have just ordered the Brown/Orange 5MDH and also the Domke 725-310 FA-031 U.S. Post Office Shoulder Pad.
Thank you all kindly for your informative responses! :)
Cheers,
Dave

I currently have 5 bags. They are a study in making compromizes. Too big, too small, not right for this, too bulky for that. I am not sure there is a perfect bag.
I like my 5MDH. It is sized exactly for what I wanted it for, a camera body with a lens mounted and room for a spare lens. In a pinch, I can put a bit more in it. I prefer it with just 2 lenses but I have carried it with my 17-55mm mounted, a 10-24mm and 70-300mm.
It is the last bag I bought and it is the one I am the most happy with.

Can someone post a picture of their 5MDH with: lens+body, lens, flash? I'm having a hard time figuring out how to fit all those items.

Go to cambags.com and you will find plenty of pictures of loaded bags.
Also, Youtube has 5mdh and other MDH videos

So I got my 5MDH and I like it so far. One thing I've noticed is that if I'm caught out in the rain with it that it seems like water could get in on the side via the gaps where the straps are and water running down the strap.
Does anyone have a workaround for this or experienced any problems with it?

I'm trying to decide between the 5 and the 6 as well.
My gear list (I usually want to carry all my lenses with me):
T1i gripped body
Tokina 11-16
Tamron 18-270 VC
Nifty Fifty
430EX
What do you guys think? I'm currently using a old-school bag that just screams "camera inside!!!". ;)

With 5MDH, It might work, but it's going to be really tight. Stacking two lenses. You'll be better off starting with 6MDH.

Cool, I'll be out looking for a 6MDH.
OR I'd re-think my options and only carry one extra lens, not two. Will that be fine in a 5? (with flash, of course)

In my 5MDH, I carry either gripped XT or 7D (no grip) with 24-105 lens attached + one other lens (30 or 85), and a flash.

That's good to know, hobbes. Looks like I'll be going for either one, whenever a good deal comes along.
