Hello,

I recently purchased a SPL underwater housing for my 50d,

I have a 15mm Fisheye port with it.

I was wondering if anyone had some tips on how to keep beeds of water of the lens?
as the 15mm canon fisheye isnt the fastest focusing lens and gets kinda confused when theres beeds of water on the lens! plus they show up as blobs on the photos.

I heard spitting on it helped, but i tryed that and basically got the same results.

Anyway any help would be much appreciated!

cheers!

Spit keeps your goggles from fogging when your diving. If it can also keep your lens clear that would be amazing. Who knew spit was so useful.

You have a couple of options....

1. Spit and lick... this gets old fast but it works a treat... you need to do it about every 10 minutes or so....
2. Potato... Wipe a sliver of potato on the port about 10 minutes before going out... (This is my preferred method)
3. Apple... same as potato but you get to eat the apple as you walk down to the beach....

Also... keep your housing (or port) submerged until you are ready to shoot... lift it and hold for a nanosecond before shooting....

Thats about all I can tell you.... my knowledge base is exhausted....

Have fun...

also... if your shooting fish eye.. it is best if you prefocus to about a metre before you go out and leave it at that.....

Thanks for the advice trevi

I have been messing around with different techniques,
I find if i leave the housing underwater until i shoot like you said, I can minimal to no bleeding.

I shoot with a Canon 15mm Fisheye, i put the focusing ring to infinity most of the time.
as the auto focus is very slow and i end up losing the shot.

Do you suggest i focus a meter? i might give it a go next time im out shooting!

Cheers

whoops.. checkin back in...

I set my focus ring between 1 and infinity... that generally gets everything.....

where are your pics???
