I believe this is a Blue Heron... please correct me if I am wrong. It sneeked up on my daughter and I while we were fishing off a pier yesterday morning.

Taken with a Canon 300D with the 28-135 IS... Enjoy...

Thanks... and yes... the Heron was trying to grab some bait fish close to shore around the pier.

Great shot... I just love the piercing intense eyes of these birds..

I wish one would sneak up on me.. There are plenty where I live (In the country near a marsh), but I can't get within a quarter mile of one.. They always fly off :(

Nice capture luisv! That must be a friendly GBH.
I saw my 1st GBH this holiday weekend, hiking at Hamilton Pool. But the darn Walmart tripod had delayed my setup, and when i got everything ready, my friends scared it away. Arrrhhhgggg.... Now i know, don't make a hiking trip a wildlife photography trip unless i go alone or with fellow photographer.

Even then, the couple I've seen at Cherry Creek State Park are so skittish, I have trouble getting close enough even with my 200 x 2 to get a reasonable shot.... :(

Thanks guys.. I can only guess that people feed him small fish, so he must feel very comfortable and secure around people.
