After shooting quite a few pictures this spring of my son playing baseball, a number have people have mentioned to me that the 350D, in their experience, and demonstrated in many of my pictures, really loves the contrast afforded by chain link fences; so much so that it tends to bring out the background more than the subject, regardless of the photographer's intent.
This shot was taken today, in full sunlight. I was shooting a bunch of stuff in aperture priority today, and according to the exif information, this was shot at 1/80 f14, ISO 100, with a focal length of 126 mm.
To my eye, the pitching machine pops pretty well, with the chain link and netting not fooling the camera. This was shot in RAW, and the only change was to save it in JPEG and to change the white balance to daylight (and to resize the image posted). The link posted contains the original JPEG if anyone is interested (it's 7.7 MB)
