Maybe you can help me decide. I have 10 grandchildren, most of them in sports (includes BB, VB, gymnastics). I've decided to upgrade to a camera that includes video, but I don't want a separate video camera. Presently I have a 5d classic and 1dn Mark II which I would have to sell; very 'low miles' on both these cameras. My goal is a 5d Mark II or 7d....I also shoot landscapes, wildlife, and just starting to try portraits (hobby only). I have the 70-200 F4 L IS, and just tried a rented 85 1.8 which I like very much (I'll probably buy one). I also saw a report in a photo magazine indicating an extremely high resolution rating on the 7d, although it is my understanding that the 5d Mark II is better. I some cases I shoot at ISO 3200 in the gyms. Sooooo, if you were in my shoes............?????
Thanks.

From what you explained you shoot... 7D, for sure. It IS a sports camera, after all. More advanced AF system than the 5DII.

As Steve mentioned, the 7D is a great camera. Probably a bit less costly than your other FF choices, too.

Review the gear in my signature--I shoot sports first and foremost, but the lenses I have do pretty nicely portrait shooting as well. Your g'kids will definitely be into the portrait thing, I'd imagine.

Get the 7D, align your lenses according to what you shoot most and focus on those areas. Heck, shooting 3 sports and your grandkids will keep you busy for an awfully long time!

A good choice imho.

The 7D will do sports agood bit better than the 5D (AF speed, burst speed etc) and will do acceptable portraits (not quite as good as the 5D though)
