The over the top signature kinda kills everything for me :-s

Got to agree I'm afraid - the signature distracts so much from the images it was hardly worth posting them, which is a shame really.

Dont be too sure of that.

I rang a guy to see if I could use a shot of his rally car for advertising my photography (his business was plastered across the front) and offered him a print and digital copy if I could.
He then asked me if that was the shot of him sliding away from the camera during a certain race.
Turns out he pulled the shot from a forum just like this, found it by searching the event in google.
I wasn't too fussed as I wasn't selling shots from the event, but I do put a watermark on everything I post now.

Have also heard of someone having a shot pulled and used for advertising, tourism.

Your kidding yourself if you think this doesn't happen all the time. People just dont care about the resolution or if they can print it. They will just take it because it is free, no good if you make a living from your images.

I am sure that this sort of thing does happen from time to time. The only way to ensure it doesn't happen is to not post images anywhere near the internet. If you're that paranoid about someone stealing your images from a photography forum and you're a pro making your living from your photography, the simplest thing is just not to bother posting.

I just can not see the point of obscuring images on a photography forum behind great big copyright banners and text across the whole image. It makes it nigh on impossible to view the image properly.
