An old gum tree in my dad's yard. A Wood Duck came to check the home on the third floor, it was amazing but shortly after she disappeared inside a Rainbow Lorikeet appeared at the entrance to his home on an upper level. He went back inside and came out with his partner and they both checked out what was happening below.

In the main trunk between the Rainbow Lorikeets and the Wood ducks are the Galahs and in another hollow are Starlings!

Nice Pictures Wish we had colourful birds like that around our house and not just at the zoo. I Like the one of the bird sticking his head in the tree.

The Galah has a nest in that hollow so she was going back in again. We have lots of boring looking birds too I just don't take photos of them!

Great shots einsteinsauntie, can't say I have ever seen a duck up a tree before.

I love the Starlings, are they just local to SA, I have never seen them before :)

The Starlings are PESTS! I did hear years ago that people were employed to kill off any that made it to WA. I've never seen the Wood ducks in the trees before but that's where they nest, apparently when the babies are only tiny they drop to the ground and head for water with the parents. I would love to see that.

Great shots.. That would be a fascinating tree to watch for the next while..

Starlings are attractive birds, but yes they are pests and very hard to get rid of... I live in south centeral canada and there are lots of them here too.. They even survive our winters where it sometimes drops down to -40C
