Hello:

I own a small tea shop here in London Ontario and I have received a few requests from some forum members to post a few pics that I have taken and use as posters in my shop. Here are a few of my latest shots.........I have them all blown up to 16 X 20 in the store.......here they are resized for the web and water-marked (for copyright purposes) so the quality suffers somewhat. In the shop at full-size, they look great! All taken with my trusty Canon 1D and the infamous 35F1.4 L lense.......a terrific combination for product shots! Thanks for looking and comments always welcome!!

I love the color and compositions, the first one especially. Nice work!

Very nice images.

Still, if the teacup and teapot were not aligned (looser crop), it might probably work better. Like the DOF on that one quite a bit.

Best regards,
Andy

Thanks for the comments Andy! Actually, the 3rd shot isn't cropped at all!! I framed it like that to keep the nasty-looking table-umbrella from being in the shot! It was taken on my back patio (which needs rebuilding!!). I would have liked to have had the whole cup in focus but to keep the background that blurred I probably should have used a tilt/shift lens........just for interest sake, the teapot and cup are made by Jenear Glass (of Germany) and are part of their very beautiful but pricey WagenFeld Edition.

Thanks for the great comments! I too really like the way the 1st turned out......I was worried that the steam emanating from the spout wouldn't show up in the picture but luckily it did!!

So you are a fan of quality glass from Jena in more than one respect :D

Best regards,

I'd like to go with the flow here but (SORRY!) I don't really like any of them.

The first and the third do little to nothing for me, and the second one reminds me of finger bowls (placed on a sushi dish) in a japanese restaurant. Aside from the teapot, logic is the only thing that tells me what the liquid is.

Maybe you can try adding some loose leaf tea, or bags into the pictures? There's a LOT of promise in these pics... I do really like the clear cup on the bottom one.

Hey, no need to be sorry if you don't like the shots!! I have them framed in my shop and they do have captions that convey tea in some fashion!! I do have others that show some loose leaf tea but I don't sell anything in a teabag so I wouldn't have a shot with a teabag in it!!:D

Thanks for commenting......always glad to hear the good and the not so good..........

The last one is great, i love it. However i would prefer to see it with the handle and spout in tact.

Nice work!

They are all very nice, but I especially like the third. Do you mind sharing your location? I don't go to London often, but if I'm ever in the neigbourhood, I would like to have a cup.

I hope that text includes the words 'For Sale, enquire at desk' :)

I like 'em.

I like them all, even the teapot/teacup - although the OOF teapot works I think it would have been even nicer if the teacup was entirely in focus...just my 2 cents.

Great pictures. If you run your shop as well as you phoptograph you should be a great success.
