It was a great day but the weather could have been better! Tho it did open up and gave us clear blue skies for a while!
What do you think of this one?

I think this is the same manouvre!
Nice blue skies here, but the lighting was tricky earlier on.
Great 'Arrows capture!

haha! darn it! you got a BIGGER lens than I do! Not fair! What lens did you use?
also - can I ask - were you using autofocus? Most of the guys around me (with L lenses) were using AF (coz I kept hearing their AF beeps! But I was actually manually focusing (don't ask why) and most of my pics are, obviously, out of focus! :( Do most people use AF then at airshows? ie servo focusing?
This is one of the BEST pics i got...but unfortunately, I was stood behind a taller guy and...you've guessed it - his head blocked my view! Grrr (he can't be on this forum as he was using a N***n with a Sigma 50-500 - nice guy, he let me hold his camera to feel the weight of the lens - very heavy!!

Do most people use AF then at airshows? Perhaps most, but not all. ;)
I didn't 'cause I was using a MF Nikkor on the 300D! I felt that, if you pan, you can use a slower shutter speed with a smaller f-stop which will give a large DOF which should compensate for the lcd viewfinder.
This one was at 1/250 sec. at about 300mm, 480mm w/1.6 crop factor.

muscleflex - I was using AI Servo (no beeps!) but got quite a few out of focus shots, some as I was trying to keep shutter speed down (200-250th) on props/'copters, some as I was at f/4 alot, and at 30m (for instance) there's less than 2m DOF. In hind sight, should have upped my ISO to get smaller aperture / deeper DOF for same shutter speed?
Anyhoo - it's all good fun! I was using IS in mode 2 most of the time (mode 1 for hovering harries / 'copters).

i was using 150th for props! heh. i guess that was too slow? i basically had no idea as it was my first time shooting planes! later on that day, i went to 500th shooting jets. i was on Tv priority all the time. with -1 exp when it was bright..(not sure if i did it right) and ISO 100 - 400 depends on the weather. when it got cloudy, i went back to 400
where are you guys from anyway? (the ones who went to the airshow)
