Hi, I am new to a camera with this much power. I have tons of question but I first would like to know, when I click the shutter buttom it takes my xt about 13-15 seconds to take the snap shot. There is a counter that counts down from like 15. How do I make this a faster snap shot? I want to be able to push half way down for the focus then snap the shutter for the pic. Its hard to keep kids still for that special shot for 15 sec. Thanks again

You rotate the dial in front of the filter to the right.

Gaslin - sounds like you've got your camera in timer mode.
On the back, second button down just to the right of the lcd data screen is a button with a picture of a stopwatch. Turn the camera on, and watch the LCD information screen as you press the button. It will toggle between timed release, normal one-shot (symbol of single picture), or continuous mode (symbol of stacked pictures) each time you press it. You want one-shot, usually. This will allow your camera to focus and fire the shot immediately, rather than timing for 10 or whatever seconds.
PS - I think page 48 of the manual does a better job of explaining it than I can.

Hi gaslin,
Welcome to the forum!
Do you have an instruction manual for your camera?
If so, we can help you find the section on drive mode selection.
If not, we can give you a link to a manual in pdf format on the internet.

What Tom W said...also I find that button always gets pushed for no reason. I wish there was a way to lock it so I'm not surprised when I'm shooting a once in a life time shot.
