Hey everybody,

I've kinda gotten back into shooting with the lens reversed lately and I have been bored in my dorm room, so thought I would put up some shots for critique.

This one is just a piece of paper with some C++ code on it. I desaturated it, adjusted the levels a tad, sharpened it a little (didn't need much), and used a layer mask and gradient to get the "vignetting". This was shot with the lens reversed stopped to f/8, I believe. 1/200s, ISO400, shot in RAW.

This is of a newspaper. Again using a reversed lens. I deleted the EXIF and I don't remember the settings, sorry about that. Just desaturated and adjusted the levels.

This last image is simply of my glasses. It was shot with my 55-250mm at 1/13s, f/5.6, ISO400 and in RAW. I desaturated it, adjusted the levels, sharpened it, colorized it to get the quasi-sepia, then cropped it. To me it looks a little OOF. It was handheld, so it probably is.

Any critique or comments are welcome.

Thanks!

Being a novice, I have to ask, "What do you mean the lens is reversed?". How is that done?

Unmount the lens from the body (as if to store it away), then hold it backwards on the camera so the the front element is facing the sensor. You have to get very close to the subject, but it provides a lot of detail and crazy shallow depth of field. They also make reversing rings so that you can actually mount the lens backwards instead of just holding it. I, however, am too poor for these.

Nice shots man! :) The contrast works nicely.

Man, I tried to learn C++....it was REALLY tough. I got pretty far, but there was very little practice I could do, I lacked ideas for projects. O.o

Thanks, Alpha.

Yeah C++ gets pretty tricky once you start doing real stuff. It is quite useful, though. I'm taking it in college, so I am kinda forced to learn it. :)
