Off to New Zealand via Singapore in 2 days time.

I have 5D, 7D and was going to take 16-25, 24-105 and 70-200 2.8.

I now feel that there will be too much overlap as I like the 24-105 on the 5D as walk about - but as I have the 16-35 , I should really have that on the 5D.

Would it make more sense to have the 16-35 on the 5D, the 17-55 2.8 on the 7D (taking the 70-200 + 1.4 as well of course).)

Help...............not much time left to decide!!!

To me, NZ is virtually entirely outdoor shooting, so a fast lens is not a priority. (Let me qualify that statement...my trips there were business with weekend free time. I did not visit any sites where I would have taken indoor shots). My priority would be carryability (is that a word?) You are correct, 5D+24-105 is a perfect walk about combination. My choice for the lens on the 7D would be the lightest of the lenses you mention.

So you think I won't need the wide angle capability of the 16-35? (for Singapore & Hongkong)

(I do have a husband willing to be my pack horse however)

Will you be in Singapore at all or is it just a layover? I just got back and had a great time taking pictures. Great architecture photography there as well as great nature and street candids.

By the way, I used a 18-135 IS and a 70-200 2.8 IS USM. Between the two I was able to shoot almost everything I wanted in Singapore. I wish I had the 2x extender for our side trip into Malaysia though...
