I took this at the Grace Emily hotel on Thursday night. My first attempt at live music photography. Your thoughts please ?

Nice shot, good lighting but the arm is overpowering IMO

Pretty decent for a first attempt but as NY Irish noted the arm is a little distracting. I hope it's not your last attempt!
And it's great to see another Aussie here.
Who's the performer?

Thanks guys. She grabbed the mic a fair bit so was hard to get a pic without her arm in it. Will post a couple more. Her name is Alicia Vega, very acoustic mellow style. Very good vocals. Id like to get into live music photography so gonna start with a few local bands.

hmmm, the grace emily is pretty hard to shoot in at the best of times. almost no stage "front" and very poor if consistent light. i'm thinking these could do with a sharpen? not sure at 100% but they look a little soft to me. were these with the nifty fifty?
good job for a first gig as a whole. i'd be happy with this as your first time.
i haven't shot at the grace for a while but if i do i am thinking of bringing my own lighting.
shooting bands is good fun isn't it? :)

Wow these pics look a whole lot warmer on the work PC. BJWOK, I started out with my nifty fifty and used my 17-55 for most of the show after that..

Difficult lighting.
Not too bad, but a bit soft. Might be the slow shutterspeed, might be OoF, might be processing. Hard to tell at this size.
Some could be improved by a simple crop.
