These are adorable, Seona! Did you use fill lights or just the natural window light?

mercersmoments

I used the strobe and the window light - in the morning I don't get as much as I'd like, and becasue I like to shoot on 100 ISO , I like to compensate with the strobe.

If I have afternoon photoshoots, I get more light, so I don't need the strobe.

these were taken with the 85mm f1.2L @ 2.0

how cute is that first one! you did great especially for a 10 week old, thats a hard age.

can you post a pick of what your bean back or whatever you have under for them to lay on? I use a bean bag but mine is much smaller than that one.

I'm actually about to invest in a shoot baby ottoman :

http://www.shootbaby.com.au/beanbags/ottoman-beanbag-vinyl/prod_125.html

But this is my bean bag - it's extra large with extra beans in it, so it's firm, but not firm - lol if you know what I mean ! lol

Nice shots and thanks for the setup shot.

I would even try higher ISO ambient only as you got some nice big windows. Noise is hardly an issue in prints.

no, you just buy the bag and then the amount of beans you want, so this has 2.5 bags of beans in it

what stands are those? I really need to invest in some, and how do you get the backdrop to clip to your stands?

did you get your stand from the same place you bought the bean bag, there's looks like it only has one stand, buy yours has two.

My stand and lights are from

www.dragonimage.com.au

I didn't like the single stand, the double is alot more sturdy, you can't have it falling on a baby !!!!!

Those clips came with the kit to hold the backdrop on the stand

Is this what you bought???

Do all background stands adjust to be that small, or just some?

That's almost the same as mine.

mine can become about 3 times the size of what it's set up like in my photos.

I bought x2 500 watt strobes, x2 light stands, x2 bacdrop stands, x4 poles,x2 umbrellas, x1 softbox and all the bags for $2500 - that was 3 years ago though.

the stand you are showing can be made smaller by removing one width pole and shortening the stands at either side.

Wonderfully done. I just tried for the first time with my 11 day old, didn't work out that well. He didn't want to cooperate long. I got a few decent shots, but nothing I want to use as the announcement photo. I love your work, thanks for the set up shot, it will help me. I just don't have those big windows to work with!!

thanks so much, that helps! I'm trying to prepare for a (hopefully) killer newborn shot in early may, when a good friend of mine is due to have a baby.

these are great!

one comment, the catchlights and reflections in the eye are a bit distracting in some...darken them up a bit?
