How many of you are using body armor for your canon 40d? If so, which company would you suggest? Is it worth the cost?

Why are you contemplating body armour ?

I think that body armor might be counter-productive. I have used cameras for over 50-years and have carried them in some pretty extreme conditions (including as a combat cameraman in a war long past) and I have never needed the armor protection.
I believe that in harsh conditions like blowing dust, the dust/grit would get under the armor and make the unit more difficult to clean.
I do, however, use a Kata Rain Cover when I need to shoot in rainy or misty conditions. I also, always, carry an OPTECH Rain Sleeve, in my photo vest, for each of the cameras with which I am shooting. Just in case of rain or blowing dust/spray.
