My first attempt at shooting engagement photos. I would appreciate all the C&C's I can get. Thanks.

Looks like you attempted 5 but only 2 are showing up! first comments are that time of day made for some squinty eyes from your subjects.
Taken with a 135L? Love the overall look and feel of the 2nd shot I can see.

Thanks for the comments Dave. We started shooting around 4PM. I was using a Canon 70-200 f/4.0.

Love the last two because the light is most flattering, even though not perfect. I would definately avoid direct sunlight and look for open shadow next time - no squinty eyes, no overexposed areas on the faces that I try to avoid.

If you have to shoot in the sun but it behind the subject. Then use flash to fill if necessary and even HSS to get the background soft and not blown out.

For me, #1 the blur is distracting, too much.
#2 the highlights are blown.
I am not a big fan of the borders on the other ones, but I think that is more of a style thing, just not my personal preference.

great shots, but I thought the vignette was a tad too agressive in #1 and #2 but loved the colours in the others...great advert for the 70-200 f4 L

I'll definitely try shooting in the shade next time around. I guess I could lower the opacity on the vignette. As for the boarders, you're right. It is more of a style thing.
Thanks guys. Keep em coming.

There may be a LOT of PP on a lot of wedding photography, but on the good images it is a lot of subtle work. Selective sharpening, selective grain, etc. There is a lot of spices on a lot of food, but if you put too much pepper than it ruins the food, you need finesse.
