Hi everyone.

I'm new to this forum so go easy on me! Just purchased an A40 and loaded all the software. Before I invest too much time learning and getting comfortable with ZoomBrowser & Arc I was hoping some of you could give me your feedback as to whether this is a good program or should I look at something like Photoshop Elements for example.
I don't want a complicated program, however, I don't want to be disappointed down the road as I become more familiar with digital.

Thanks in advance.

Just my personal opinion, Zoombrowser is not very good. The Arcsoft software is good but I found no use for it and removed it from my computer.
Photoshop elements will likely suit your needs just fine for editing your digital photo's.
For viewing and basic editing I use a free download called Irfanview.

I really like the new version of ZoomBrowser (available for free upgrade at www.powershot.com). It has pretty much all the functionality that I need. I probably only download about 20 pics per week, so it works great for me. The version that came with the A40 does have it's drawbacks (database corrupting, not being able to quickly view pictures in folders that aren't registerred in ZB, etc.), but version 4.0.2 solves all those problems, and it has a nice look and feel. I prefer PhotoShop over Arc, but I'm kind of into some serious photo editing. Arcsoft is a good program to learn the basics of image editing, and you can upgrade to another piece of software and transfer what you've learned to that software. I hear good things about Paint Shop Photo Album 8 www.jasc.com too

thanks I did not know about the upgrade. I just upgraded , and it is a much better program. I am also using a Mac, so I am using the "file viewer Utility in OSX. I am not crazy about "ImageBrowser" But the FVU works well and I hardly have to use ImageBrowser , Since PS7 has a built in browser.
Using "RawImage Converter" and "FileViewer Utility" to convert to 16Bit Tifhas worked Okay for me so far.I haven't tried Yarc or BreezerBrowzer, and I am only running OSX 10.1.5 so I don't think Adobes plugin is an option yet.
Has anyone compared the various Tifs converted by differing programs ? Is there any difference in the resulting tif converted by these programs?

I heard great things about Paint Shop Photo Album 8 as well. Anyone using, please give comments. Also. I hate zoombrowser. Never even use it. I just use the wizard. (I think that's what I'm talking about) LOL Under control panel and than printers and hardware. Zoombrowser is a pain in the rear. Too much of a fuss just to get pics. Arc soft is OK, but definitely is lacking a lot of the things I like anyway. Not interested in painting. If I wanted to do that, I would've been a painter :D :D I do paint furniture, but that's it.....LOL

If you're looking for an "all in one" software for basic editing, organizing and archiving photos, try Adobe Photoshop Album. Quite a winner if you ask me.

Now, for more editing, Adobe Photoshop Element or Ulead PhotoImpact are both great products. Few of us would really need the full Photoshop.

I use Downloader to get images off my CF cards. Very simple to use and will automatically file the images in separate directories.
