Hi, I searched in the forums looking for any discussion about how to take picture of toys. Didn't find any. Putting in "toys" resulted in like new toys for the big boys and gals. Anyway, on to my questions.

I have a toy collection. Some of the toys are "loose" (out of the box) while most are in their original packaging. Taking photos of "loose" toys is no issue. It is taking photos of toys in their original packaging where I get a lot of reflection on the bubble packaging. Any ideas on how to overcome this problem?

Thanks in advance.
Hory

set up the light so its not directly in front, and dont use a flash.

Anttor, thanks for the quick revert. I built a light box and used natural light. Still, I am getting reflections. I then tried using lights on both sides, and I still get reflections. I use a dark cloth to prevent reflections from the front, this somewhat helps but am still not satisfied. Perhaps others have a better setup?

Best,

Have you tried using a circular polarizer?

Don't know if it works with plastic, but might be worth a try.

Best regards,

I'd like to see some of your shots as well as a shot of the setup. Might be able to come up with some ideas then....

Dear SkipD,

Here's a sample of the picture of a toy I took recently. The reflection of light appears on the left and right side of the bubble. I'll send a separate post with pix on the setup. All natural light used with a lightbox made out of white cloth, black carton background. No flash. Exposure at 5s, f/22.

Best,
Hory
