still learning... the BG light was too bright and wrapped around :( children are so hard to photgraph sometimes... she would not stay in one spot for more than a second

Not necessarily. Light your subject to match the BG. While you got a little spill it's not a lot. Try moving the child to the very front edge of the background and boost the main. It looks to me she is underexposed and a little flat.

I know the feeling, my main subject just celebrated her third birthday. Bribes work well for me. Ice cream, m&m's, skittles, etc.

My last white bg shoot. I did not photograph the setup but can if you think it would help.
Subject was/is between 7 and 8 feet from the background.
1 AB800 on boom lighting bg
1 AB800 w/ Large Octa for main
1 AB800 w/ Large Gridded Softbox for fill (power set very low)

how do I fix the flat image??? more contrast with the light setup??

Properly exposing your subject will help a great deal. Below are a couple of links about "flat image".
