I am going to Ireland on FRIDAY ... Do I need monopod to landscapes ...?
I am not going to take tripod cos it is too heavy ... So I am curious if monopold will do good for my pictures ....?

You could very well find benefit in having a good monopod with you, especially with longer lenses or in dimmer lighting situations.

The one which I use (Bogen/Manfrotto 680B) also doubles as a very nice walking stick when hiking.

Do you NEED a monopod anywhere else?

A monopod is useful to help support big & heavy lenses against gravity. But because it still allows freedom of movement in the X & Y axis, it should not be expected to replace a tripod. So, even with a monopod, I still follow the same shutter speed rule as when I'm shooting handheld.

Hi
I am currently on holiday in the UK and France, and I regret bringing neither monopod or tripod. I agree with wilflee, but there is no doubt the monpod will help.

In my opinion the best landscapes are at dawn or dusk, there's not a lot of light around then, so i'd say take a tripod. If you're on a tour you don't have any control over when/where you go, not sure in that case.

Tomas I live in Ireland and believe me is freaking windy. Seriously, wind and rain all bloody day . A mondopod may help but trust me, even a cheap tripod would have troubles in this weather. If you can bring a good/serious tripod, that would help.

Cheers,
Tony
