10D in UK?

I've been waiting for this! It's a bit disappointing to not see a more substantial upgrade to the sensor but hey, what's wrong with a D60 with some of the wrinkles smoothed out?

Any theories about how long we'll be waiting here for stock to come through and price settle? And, the Finteen Hudnred Quid Question: How Much?

I can understand all you recent D60 owners moaning about the price - similar thing happened with me and the G2/G3 and I was gutted to see the G3 selling cheaper.

Anyway, what I want to know is when will I be able to get one and will I need to remortgage the house to buy one?

Good luck as many have waited months and months and did not even get a D60. So I would say get on a list and be ready to wait at leats 6 months or so. Good luck and have a great day.

MRP is GBP 1499. Park Cameras are saying supplies in around 3 weeks. Sally (Pigasus) found this mob offering it for just under GBP1240 http://www.cameras-at-lowest-prices.co.uk/products.asp?Cat_ID=49.

I've read on the DPReview Canon SLR forum that Cameras-at-lowest-prices are asking for 10% payment up front and won't specify a delivery date. I was interested until I read that...

I just returned from the PMA in Las Vegas. Canon “claims” that availability of considerable quantities starting 10 March and promises no delays like the D60. Wait and see….Dan

In Canada the Canon website posted a suggested retail of $3200.00, but I have put my name in at a couple of locations and the Canadian price will be $2799.00 and some stores are asking for a 20% deposit. The Canon reps say they have no stock yet and are not giving stores a time frame yet, but will be soon. This info is as of this morning. In many cases I think it will be cheaper to import this camera from a US store, based upon their $1499. US price.

Will the camera be covered by warranty if puchased in the US?

Good question Dale, I would first be inclined to say likely not. Same as Nikon would not be covered, yet I have bought lots of equipment over the years from the US including Nikon and really have had no issues. I have been lucky for sure.
But I still would not hesitate to do so even with digital systems, if the price differential is worth it. For example if I buy an EOS D10 from Ritz in the US, they have Canadian import prices on their website that must mean they are getting a fair amount of business from Canada. I have a Ritz store an hour from where I live even though it is in the US. I am about an hour from the US Border. The cost in Canadian dollars including shipping to Canada and GST and PST taxes, delivered to my door is a total of $2694.84 as of today. There is no import duty charged to Canada. If I want I can pay extra for a Ritz warranty. If I buy Canadian the price will be $3219.93 in Canadian funds plus a shipping cost. And that price is as of this morning as I checked with a dealer close to Toronto. But again they cannot say at this point when stock will be in.

I've always assumed that Cannon offer an international warranty. YoU need to check with the supplier and it would be good to mow it any other Cannon users have needed repairs with a product purchased overseas?

Canon UK's website states that if you purchased your product outside the UK then maybe one of their other sites can help.
This says to me 'not interested' unless purchased in the UK.

I bought a Canon D60 in Hong Kong in mid-January for the equiavalnet of £1250 and can confirm that it does not have an international warranty. If anything goes wrong with it I will have to return it to HK but fortunately I have built up a good relationship with the owner and trust that he will get things sorted out.

Imagine my feelings when I returned home having taken about 100 photos only to find it had been discontinued.

Ah well, it could have been worse, I could have paid £1999 in this country

Rip off Britain...again...How come the US get the 10D for £936 and we have to pay £1499...
PS I phoned Jessops who are quoting mid April and £1499 but I have also noticed from past experiance that Jessops are always dearer then other dealerships.

for £1400 its not the cheapest but I know I can get good support if their are problems, and I am expecting some with the first run off the production line.

If buying from main USA don't forget the import tax for UK is can be a lot then the advantages are not so great.

I am trying to pin down a delivery date but canon are not committing at the moment.
