and will it work on my 300D?

I know nothing about lenses and such as I'm just getting started.

However I'm trying to put aside some money to replace the kit lens and get something with a little more zoom. I had thought about two different lenses, one for every day use and then one for telephoto. However this lens looked real nice and appears to cover both.

Your thoughts?

I was looking into that lense and a guy on here who has it said it's tack sharp. Maybe he'll chime in on it.

Depends on what do you already have for lenses? budget? what use? The extreme zooms aren't as good as 2 smaller (range) zooms.

In my opinion having done this reseearch about 5 months the Tokina 24-200 is the best of this range. Almost "L" sharp across the board and with rebate it only $ 269 bucks at B&H.

Here's a couple of links to check out --

Note that this lens weighs exactly the same as a Canon 70-200 4L. at 25 oz. - not bad at all.

The reviews cover everything from primes to zooms to wide angle lenses to 3rd party lenses.
