So additional flash got get a good tripod?

current setup is a 50d with 17-55mm..with one 580ex2..so should i invest on a tripod (good to have one lying around just in case i need it) or additional 580ex2? Thanks

i would definitely recommend that you get a good tripod to start off with. they are invaluable in many situations and even if you think you'll just handhold, there will be those times that you desperately wish you had a tripod (low light, non-IS lenses, wind, etc).

it also depends on what kind of shooting you do too. i mean, how would you use your other 580? i'm assuming you would be using two 580's in tandem right? like an on-camera + off or just both off-camera? now, if you need two flashes to overpower the sun or you're shooting into a big softbox, then dual mounting two 580's is better than one.

personally i only have a 430ex ii and will upgrade to the 580ex ii once i figure out exactly what type of tripod config i want :)

I use my tripod far more often than I slave my 420EX to my 550EX.
