A black subject with a bright background is difficult to meter for. And since you just have an A95 you don't have choices. I'd try to lighten the shadows a lot and darken the highlights if you have PSE 3. Also looks rather soft/out of focus.

See what I did to it here: http://albums.photo.epson.com/j/ViewPhoto?u=4298510&a=31744488&p=72178989

Hellashot,

I see what you mean. Wow makes a difference! The photo is a little out of focus. My puppy can't sit still long enough sometimes. But its one of the better ones of her. But anyways, what is PSE3(photoshop effects 3)?

Thanks for all of the advice.

Yeah i had to do a little crawling for the shot.

I love this shot. With a some post processing you can really bring this out. I hope you dont mind, i spent 15 minutes, but with more time can really bring out this great shot. I'm also and A 95 user and rely on pp, due to my newness to photography and my cameras limitations. I would love to see more shots used with your camera and exchange tips, so we can get the most out of what we have to work with:)

Thank you! My Photoshop skills far exceed my photography skills:P I am very new to photography but have used photoshop for almost 8 years. So, I feel this is the natural progression to learn to take my own shots, too bad its such a pricey hobby! lol I just sent you an email:) ohhh also, i have discovered Tripod and 2 second self timer are my "close up" friend!!

Well your shots seems to be from a season vetern. Plus, you also have those skills in PS. Yeah this is a pricy hobby that's for sure. Not as much as others. But, its up there! :D

Tripod and 2 sec timer work so well! But i don't take that many night shots yet. Or day shots with hight apertures and a slow shutter speed. I really enjoy the Vivid effect! Try it out.

BTW, i replied back to your email!
