I could not resist taking a picture of my neighbors car, very pretty, but the background looked boring and distracting. I did not want to lower the fstop (hope i getting the terminology correct, im only at this 2 months, A 95 powershot), because i wanted the whole car to stay sharp. Figured i could adjust in pp later. Also, I'm still not sure i calabrated my monitor correctly and wondering if its too dark or bright and if the colors are as bold as I am seeing them, so any comments would be appreciated. I know i only an a 95 user, but hope one day (saving pennies) to afford a 20 d and lenses, but that seems far off, so this is what I have to work with:P

before

after pp

My questions are, is this better than the first image, stand out more, brighter (or is this too dark (hoping that my monitor settings are correct), I also changed the background on the top portion, cuz i found the other cars distracting (did this change help or hurt the image?) Anyway, hope to get some feedback, as my name implies, i'm a learner:P and hope to learn lots, especially before I graduate to an slr (is that correct slr = 20d, d series of cameras?)

Again, thank you for this fantastic forum.

p.s. I did find my way to the http://forums.powershot-a.com/ as well, i'm known as "lara" on that forum, but frequent here still, hope this is ok?

hey thanks for the nice comments! I've been working in photoshop for almost 8 years, but am very new to photography. I have worked on many other peoples work, but now I am learning to work on my own. BUT i truely would love to take incredible shots like i have seen on this forum! Maybe, in a year or so, I will afford a 20d:P

Hi Learner, These both look good. The first probably is a little more natural in the color dept, but the second has a bit more "POP" to it via color saturation. Nice job. :D
I just realised these are not the same shots. The car has moved. I like the cleaner background in the second shot. ;)

thank you! but, no the car is not moved. I changed the background (top portion) in photoshop. The line half way from the top to the bottom, is actually a swing (one rope). You can tell its the same shot, if you look at the bottom half, the grass is the same grass, just tweeked somewhat in ps cs2:)
