Tips On Team Portraits

I am helping out on some Soccer team portraits and individual poses, All I have is a 20d,, with tripod any suggestions on a lense,, and does anybody have samples of poses, With or with a ball , Laying down , legs crossed

Was wonderin what would be a good lense,, I did a search on the topics,, I do have basic lense was wondering if a 50mm or 85mm prime would work would i need to go to a telephoto What about a flash,,
