I have a 7MDH that fits all my gear, and a 5MDH that I was using for a walk around bag, but now I have a grip on the cam, and the 5MDH is just a little small. I love my crumplers, but they just don't offer something that fits my needs. So I think I want to try a Domke.

I would like a small bag that will fit a gripped 50D with a lens attached, as well as one more lens and a flash. I want something small and comfortable.

I have been looking at the F-3x, but it seems like it might be bigger than I need...

So my question is what the smallest Domke that will fit my needs?

Also if anyone knows of someplace in Utah that I can go see some Domke bags in person that would be great!

Smallest external dimensions that will hold a gripped body is probably the F6. F3 is a little bigger overall but it's a smaller main compartment with side pockets that make it larger.

I'd say to go with the F3x - it will be roomy for the gear, but it's not as big as you might think. I use one to carry a 7" netbook on travel. The large outside pockets make getting at any particular item especially easy. It's about the same size as the F6, just a different orientation. Tiffen's Dealer Locator (http://www.tiffen.com/storelocator.html) doesn't show any Utah-based stores. Denver or Las Vegas may be the closest ones.

Brooke, there are no stores in UT that sell anything like Domke bags. Maybe call around in SLC, but really, order it.

Thanks everyone! Looks like the F-3x is the best choice.

Thanks Suzie, that is what I have found, a few SLC stores will special order them, but that's not any help. I just really want to see one and try it before I order it, I just haven't even ever seen one so I don't know if I would like it at all.

When I chose my F3 oiled Domke I found that there was subtle differences in partition sizes within the product line.
My preference was the original bag. I bought the oiled bag because things fit better.
I shoot Nikon.
I fit a D80+grip
18-200VR
70-300VR
50/1.4
into the bag with ease. There's more room left over; SB600 is an easy placement too.

Hope this helps.

ps My G11 fits fine in the other end pocket.

I hate to say this, but only in big cities like NYC are there bags available in the store. Even here in NOVA, there are only 2 store chains that get much of anything. Jon & I have visited all of them. I just order it now, unless I hit Penn Camera when they get a shipment. Have fun with the F-3X. Love my Domke bags.

Thanks everyone, I guess I will just have to order it and hope that I love it. It will still probably be a couple months before I have the extra money for it (it's expensive!!). But maybe I can find a good deal on a slightly used one.
