Looking for a good filter adapter tube for G11, what suggestions? I hear the canon one is a p.o.s. so looking at third party. Ideally like to order from B&H, Amazon, Roberts or another reputable dealer but will go to ebay if it's worth it too.
Thanks,
Tim

Most go hunting on www.lensmateonline.com , but others have found sources on eBay, etc. Lensmate has a good reputation, so they tend to be the primary source. You will discover that you can not just buy one filter adapter, you need up to three tubes.

Glad you found what you needed. I have a G9, and I only need one tube size for filters and lenses. I also have a tele and a wide conversion lenses with their own tubes, so I have three total. However, I think I am about to buy a G11, and will probably follow you down the tri-tube road. My C-Pl filter vignettes a little at my widest zoom (35 mm eq.) on a 58 mm adapter tube, so the 72 mm for the G10/G11 makes sense, but is large.

I have a question about the G11 lens compatibility guys. I'm using a G9 now with the lensmate adapter for the Canon wide angle lens and teleconverter. If I get a G11, could I still use the Canon wide lens and teleconverter from my G9 on it? Any compatibility issues? I'm okay with buying a new set of lensmate adapters, I just don't want to buy new wide and tele lenses 'coz that would already get pretty expensive. Thanks.

After some extensive testing I have found that the Canon wide works really well with the G11 - WC-DC58B (0.75 converter) - which takes the camera from 28mm down to 21mm. I use an Olympus teleconverter (Tcon 1.4) but I have found that most of the good quality products work on any of these cameras, all it takes is having a step-up or step-down ring to change the size of the mount.
Re tubes – I picked up an excellent Chinese set – from D-SLR-a (http://stores.shop.ebay.co.uk/D-SLR-a__W0QQ_armrsZ1)
- The difference with these is that the final filter size is 77mm, the Lensmate are a rather restrictive 72mm and expensive. I can fit a normal polar filter on the 77mm version and use the lens at full wide-angle without any problem.

Thanks for the responses. Now I'm more confident in buying a G11 knowing that I can still use my converters. Buying 3 adapters instead of just 1 adds up the cost though. Any recommendations on what Macro Lens to use?

Re buying 3 tubes - The Chinese set I bought cost around $20 for the full set of three, so was not expensive. Less that the cost of a single other brand tube!
Re Macro – depends what you want, the camera will close focus at the wide end, but you will almost be touching the object. To get some distance between you and the subject I would suggest Close Up Lenses – the best you can get are called Achromatic, which have two glass elements - for far more detail have a read of this (http://freenet-homepage.de/seemolf/achromats.html) - these allow you to go close at the telephoto end of the range. I have successfully used a number of sizes down to 49mm without problem, you will need a stepping down ring, but they are not expensive – that filter was the excellent Konica-Minolta CL49-200 which allows the camera to focus to 25cm at the 140mm lens setting.
