A friend of mine shared these with me and I started thinking otherwise about my abilities, once I read them. A nice uplift for ones spirit. Just thought I'd share. Some are a bit hard on themselves, so I thought by sharing this, it might put their views into a different perspective.
It definitely did for me ;) Sort of like..........

"Chicken Soup For The Photographers Soul."

"Creativity is allowing yourself to make mistakes. Art is knowing which ones to keep".
-Scott Adams

"A photograph is a secret about a secret. The more it tells you the less you know".
-Diane Arbus

"If you want to make good photographs, a camera has to be second nature to you. Devoting too much attention to technical decisions can interfere with your creative processes".
-Robert Farber
(My favorite ;))

"36 satisfactory exposures on a roll means a photographer is not trying anything new".
-Freeman Patterson

" A true photograph need not be explained, nor can it be contained in words".
-Ansel Adams

"When that shutter clicks, anything else that can be done afterward is not worth consideration".
-Edward Steichen

That's a good one :)

Let's make some more (my 10-minute brainstorm :)):

"If you are not there the photo can not be taken".
-- Pekka Saarinen

"A good photo has something that you can't really explain in words, like a poem".
-- Pekka Saarinen

"No matter how crowded the place, pressing the shutter release is done alone".
-- Pekka Saarinen

"Photography is the oddest thing: you wait patiently for weeks, sometimes years to capture a certain fraction of a second".
-- Pekka Saarinen

"You can read all there is to be read and listen all that there is to be listened but all you have to do is to see for yourself."
-- Pekka Saarinen

'instead of recording reality photographs have become the norm for the way things appear to us,
thereby changing the very idea of reality and of realism'

'photography records the gamut of feelings written on the human face; the beauty of the earth and skies that man has inherited; and the wealth and confusion man has created.
it is a major force in explaining man to man'

edward steichen 1879-1973

'if you scratch a great photograph you find two things..
a painting and a photograph'

janet malcolm

'photographers , along with dentists, are the two professions never satified with what they do.
every dentist would like to be a doctor
and inside every photographer is a painter trying to get out

'in your patience possess ye your souls '

That was good Pekka. All your own ;) I'll have to think up a quote of my own as well......But here's another favorite.

Quote: Oscar Wilde

"No great artist ever sees things as they really are. If he did he would cease to be an artist."

Quote: Paul Gauguin-

"It is the eye of ignorance that assigns a fixed and unchangeable color to every object; beware of this stumbling block."

Quote: Vincent van Gogh, 1888

"Instead of trying to reproduce exactly what I see before me, I make more arbitary use of colour to express myself more forcefully ... To express the love of two lovers by the marriage of two complementary colours ... To express the thought of a brow by the radiance of a light tone against a dark background. To express hope by some star. Someone's passion by the radiance of the setting sun."

Wonderful.

Here is my entry:

We don't perceive the world how it is, rather how we are.

"Photographers are seekers"

"Photographers seek out pieces of reality for the purpose of negotiation"

"Photos are negotiated reality"

"Photography is the method of negotiation"

"Images encapsulate reality, photographers and methods"

And perhaps:

"Photography is nothing, images are everything"
