We our heading up to the Muskokas in less than a month and was wondering if I shoot RAW can you get your pictures developed from places like Walmart or local drug stores were they have the Kodac machines? Can your pics be copied to a disk so you can post process and have printed later? Or should I just stick with JPEG?

You could always shoot Raw/Jpeg at the same time and hog up a lot of space on the memory cards and have the lab print the jepgs until you get back and can do some post processing. But if you want to save space, maybe largest jpeg should be the best way to go and watch that histogram so you get the exposures right.

Just verifying that I am trying to answer the question you are asking. You want to shoot RAW and have your photos printed while on vacation. Do you plan to take enough memory cards that you won't need to reuse?
If you shoot RAW, you can not print from a Kiosk as they will not read them. If you do not print from the Kiosk, you can not make a CD as the CD can only be made from the printed files.
If you are not planning to take a laptop, maybe you could check to see if your hotel will have computer access. If so, you could take your card reader and blank cds to download to.
Your only other option would be to shoot jpeg and then have all of them printed and purchase the cd. I would experiment before I left to make sure that I am getting as good of a file on the cd as I was getting from my camera.

Can you not just copy the CF to disk at the kiosk if they are RAW files?

not at our local stores- it only copies the ones that you print and I wonder if it woud be a full resolution file or a smaller file used for printing.

Shoot in RAW+JPEG and buy yourself the epson photomate and print them yourself while you're in your hotel. I believe this only work w/ XT or newer cameras. It won't work on DRebel. Make sure backup your RAW files. Next Option get an inexpensive notebook w/ CDR and burna copy of the RAW file and then use DPP to process the RAW to JPEG. If you plan make 4X6 prints make sure to set the conversion to 4X6 so you won't waste too much space.

I have enough CF cards, and i'm restrained enough that I don't have to worry about having to put photos somewhere. I take a small portable hard disk and a CF reader with me though, and if I run out of space or want a backup I copy the CF cards onto that.

I always have my laptop with me so that I can look at the images after a day of shooting. If I run out of space on that (hasn't happened yet but close) I have an external laptop 60GB harddrive that hooks up to the laptop via USB.
You might want to consider getting a digital wallet device or something similar.
I shoot nothing but RAW.

If you're not going to post process your images, you should shoot JPG. If you shoot RAW & JPG and take it to a kiosk it'll probably find 2 of every image and take a long time to load the images and even browse through them.
