This is the first one of my little girl that I have been happy with for a long time - she just won't stand still!.
I know the dark/muted thing isn't everyone's cup of tea but all c&c greatly appreciated :)

Great big eyes :) I think you're right, the dark almost grungey feel won't be to everyone's taste (not mine) - but then variety is the spice and all that.
Still, I'd be interested to see what the out of camera shot looked like...any chance of posting that?

Sorry. This is awful. Why on earth would you want a four year old to look like that.

i think it could have been better with some more light catching her eyes even though it is a "dark" or "grunge" photo.

Awesome! Love the shot! and I'm not even trying to have a different opinion here, is just a very captivating shot to me, will look great on a magazine cover!

While I feel it is a little too dark and grungy for a little girl for my personal taste, I can also think this little girl must be quite a tom-boy? She is your little girl, so certainly there is something about this portrait that you think this tells a little about her personality. Or maybe you are just playing with the grunge technique. In any case, I think the technique is cool and love the little touch of pink.

Care to post the original and allow editing? I wouldn't mind trying some grunge techniques of my own...

Thanks for the comments :) I figured it'd get mixed reactions. TBH I was just experimenting with darker looks (I usually experiment on pics of my kids) and it produced something I though it was ok :)
The origonal (crappy snapshot) is attached for those of you who wanted it - enjoy :D

My eye usually likes the grungy dark look, but in this particular case, it just doesn't feel right. To me, the eyes are the problem - they've gotten way too dark, so it makes her look monsterish instead of simply grungy. I think if you could brighten/lighten her eyes so we could still see iris/pupil, and lighten her lower eyelashes (boy, does that kid have some thick eyelashes! beautiful in RL, strange in your post-processed picture), that would help the post processed look.

stop watching horror movies people (just kidding), I think the original was great but I agree on the above post with making the eyes lighter

Sorry not to be more supportive, but it is not my style either.
