Hi!
I am trying to get my gallery opened up, and I always come back to Pekka's gallery as an example to work from. Is it going to be available somewhere?
Pekka, I noticed on the dpreview forums that you had mentioed something about making it available as shareware, any more info on this? I am also using Linux and apache and all that, so I'm dying to implment this!
Thanks!

I too would be interested in the best HTML generator for Web Galleries.
I have tried at least 5 to 8 of them; Thumbs Plus, iMatch, SmartPix, Gallery Maker....
I am trying apps that provide cataloging and descent gallery creation capabilities. I guess if I had to take one over the other, I'd take the cataloging capabilities first. Because I use Breeze Browser which generates a very solid foundation for a gallery - but my library is getting out of control.
Recommendations please.

I forgot to provide the link for my first iteration of my gallery. There are currently a couple of linking problems, but overall it is headed in the direction that I want, any early feedback will be appreciated.
I am currently using FrontPage 2002, and realize I will need an HTML primer.
Thanks for any feedback or suggestions.

Since you use BreezeBrowser, you might want to check out this message: http://www.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1010&page=1&message=1747140
I clicked over to your gallery but I don't linger at sites that use blue text on black backgrounds. If someone can look at their own site and not realize how unreadable this combination is, I figure there are even greater faults deeper down. (This, of course, may or may not be true, but I don't stick around to find out.)

I would recommend that you come up with something that YOU like and that YOU have created.
What is special and unique that you like?? It is too easy to gravitate to someone elses work and claim it as yours. In writing, this is plagarism.
Stop and think what would be great, unique and special to YOU and then create it. People will flock to it.
Don't try to take photos like Pekka, don't try to make a web page like Pekka. His work is great and unique. Yours can be too !!!! Let it out.
Good luck,
Dave

Whoa whoa whoa...did you even read my post? Where did I say that I wanted to pass it off as my own? BTW, you aren't really saying that software that someone else wrote and makes available is plagarism, are you? Or did you write the OS and browser you used to reply here?
Did you read the part about where I said that Pekka had mentioned at one point he was thinking of turning his databse-driven system to shareware? It's in the DPReview forums if you care to look.
Believe me, if I had the time I'd try to duplicate such a system I would. As it is, I'll probably look into this stuff eventually. And I'll probably make it available, too.
