StudioGT,
welcome to the forum :D
I think the people you meet in Zuffenhausen will be able to give you some directions
The road to Weissach (to get to the test area) is certainly also a good opportunity.
Call me if you need an assistant on the weekend
(that is ... if my wife allows it  )
Also take a look here: Scenic routes (http://www.germany-tourism.de/e/scenic_routes.html)
Best regards,
Andy

Zuffenhausen is easy, but Dulmen leaves me a bit puzzled, I have to confess...

ok.. should have put a smiley beside my Zuffenhausen question.. ;)
I think everybody knows where the P cars come from, although they do absolutely nothing for me.. (a question of taste)
there is, however, a little organisation in Dulmen.. that works with sports cars.
do a google on Dulmen and Wiesmann (would paste the link.. but don't want to inadvertently advertise for anyone here)

I guessed you forgot the smiley, that's why I added the 'perhaps...' ;)
Newer Porsches do nothing for me neither, but the older they are, the more I like them...
Anyway I prefer Maranello-grown sports-cars... :D

I could hear the smiley in your 'perhaps..' :D
as for the taste.. I have a really cool video chasing one of the Maranello products in my friends Zuffenhausen product throu the Black Forest... about half an hour of 100% accelleration, hi speed curves, and brake / tire smoking decelleration.
was in a '76 3.0 Turbo.. with a few adjustments, but we still had no chance against the Red Head. we had some cool shots of her escaping around the curves, and our brakes were blue at the end of the chase.
it was an exhelerating experience either way. :D

studiogt, Have fun on the Autobahn!!! Anyway I prefer Maranello-grown sports-cars... The news last night showed security cam footage of one burning up in a gas station with the hose still in the tank! They said it was a classic, but I couldn't tell which model it was.
Andy, nice links! Is there one for the fast route to Poland?:D;)

Although I also think that the Maranello products are incredible, the Zuffenhausen ones are definitely more usable in everyday traffic.
Can't really make a direct comparison here, as I only have the experience with the Zuffenhausen products. However, the mileage I got out of these (~40,000 km in 2 years of ownership without any repairs) would have been quite expensive with Maranello products, most likely.
And they are more fun on small roads than on the Autobahn (though that might be more dangerous for your license  )
Thanks for the Wiesmann reference, though that cars are a bit too 'retro' for my taste.

Andy

I agree with "more fun on small roads" which is my usual preference, but sometimes you just want to see the bugs disintegrate on the windshield!

Hmmm. 120 mph on a smaller road ought to be sufficient for that

One of the things I like about living here is being able to hit 260 kmh (160 mph for you other guys) on my way to a clients office in the morning. It isn't that I'm in a hurry... but when the autobahn opens up, and you have the horsepower... :D
(I don't do this every day... my normal cruise speed is around 200kmh (125mph))
The days with my Mustang were also spent on many winding Black Forest mountain roads.. but my car is a bit heavy for that now.
.. oh.. and I absolutely HATE bugs. (at these speeds, they take up a good portion of the windshield)

Myth,
which Mustang do you ride at 260 kph?
Must be a nice one :D

Andy.. I had three 5.0 Mustang GT's.. first was an '83, second was an '88, and third was an '89.
All of them had some slight modifications to the fuel / intake / ignition / exhaust systems, and all went at least 250.
Now I'm older and more relaxed... I sold the Mustangs when I got my business travelling car, Caddy STS (which has a 305hp 32v Northstar V8 in it), and my Chevy Blazer... because 3 cars cost too much for insurance in this country.
Having said that I'm older and wiser.. er.. more relaxed.. I just made friends with someone who has brought a new 2005 GT from California over here. He is installing some small mods this weekend, and then we are going to find some nice roads for some photos. (which is why I originally read this thread.. to find some cool roads)

thanks alot for yours comments but.....
with all of my respect to the normal cars (if u call 911 normal), I prefer the unusual cars.
like the nobel or the freaken cars that the littel shop name Z CARS makes. this guys takes an old mini and put inside an R1 engine with turbo  . It drive and saund like hell.
....back to germany the Autobahns are good for speed but it looks to me that i cant shooting over there. I looks for B roads. I think ill try the alpine-road.
thanks to Andythaler for the link.

This one might also be interesting ...
http://www.solitude-memorial.de/
It's a historic racing track close to a little castle in the vicinity of Stuttgart. Though the complete racing track did not survive, some parts of it are still available as small roads. The castle itself is also a very scenic place, though I don't know if you'll be allowed to shoot photos there.

Mr. StudioGT.. I've been looking at my maps again of where I used to drive around Stuttgart.. and remember some of the more interesting routes. If I knew what kind of a setting you were looking for.. winding roads.. hills.. trees.. old towns.. etc.. I could focus on finding something.
Mr. Insomnia.. Interesting forum!! too bad I missed the 4th july stuff. it's been a while since I did any shots at car shows...
Andy.. I was at the Solitude place once.. some years ago. totally forgot about it. Thanks for reminding me. maybe we could set up a meeting there too... or sinsheim... either one.

Yes, there are certainly some places to visit...
Auto & Technik museum Sinsheim (http://www.technik-museum.de/uk/sinsheim/index.html)
Mercedes Benz Museum (http://www.cms.daimlerchrysler.com/emb_classic/0,,0-195-78845-1-167525-1-0-0-0-0-0-1221-78641-0-0-0-0-0-0-0,00.html)
Porsche Museum (German only) (http://www3.porsche.de/german/deu/dialog/contactinfo/museum/datefacts.htm)
Lee, I can understand that the new Mustang is really tempting for you :D
My favourites were the 64-74 model generation, and the 2005 model is very close to that.
I also drive an all-American car now ... but my Chrysler Voyager is neither very well suited for the Autobahn nor the smaller streets

Not to be picky but the first generation ended in 73, my father has a 73 mach 1 ;)
I still want to take a trip to one of those museums soon too :D

My parents had a 67 fastback ... great car.
Was the first car I drove myself in 1971. Nothing special in itself, but I was born in 1969.
Not exactly what my mother envisaged when she left me in the car with the engine running and the gear in neutral ... a 2 year old is perfectly capable of changing the gear to 'drive' if he has seen you do it
Luckily, a small fountain stopped the ride without any damage to the car or the severely underage driver. Still, guess I've been a Ford guy since then ... my first own car was a '74 Capri.
Best regards,
Andy

I may be mistaken, but I think the Chrysler Voyager is completely built in Gray/Austria. Only the name is american ;) and the design

I think you are right. Thought they would only build the 4WD version there but checked it out.
Still ... the 3.3l V6 engine surely is an American design ... probably from the late 60's:lol:
But it has lots of spaaaaaace.....

Hehe ... the Audi S4 is not exactly a 'special car'.
See if you can get a shot at the RS4 or the new R9, and the new SUV too :D
But I doubt it a bit because the Audi people are not exactly renowned for their openness.
See if you can get a tour of the Weissach Porsche design facilities and test track ... great experience and a really nice road to get there.
And the car is called Wiesmann in the city of Dulmen.
