I'm still very new to this. At least I know what to strive for---seeing all these great shots that have been posted. I'm definitely trying to learn from them.
I've cropped this down quite a bit. Is there too much color? ...or a good balance?
Thanks

I'm also very new to all this digital photography (and photography in general). I believe the flower is a stokes aster if I'm not mistaken. I have it planted in my back yard and have had several miserable attempts to photograph it. The white center keeps getting blown out. Good luck with your macro photog. :) Nice sharpness on your moth.

Like the photo, interesting to get the mouthparts extended into the flower. Looks like a skipper to me (butterfly) rather than a moth.

I agree with dancinec. It is a skipper of some sort. It's a good shot (good DOF), but I probably wouldn't have cropped it quite so close.

Nice shot. Love the color. Agree with others that this is a butterfly.

I would have cropped it to a different format - more square than the present format. Excellent shot! I think the vibrancy of the color is great, too.
