i have the canon 1.4 but it wont fit my 17/40 or 85mm is there a high quliaty one that will work with these lenses ?

I may be wrong but I don't think TCs are designed to work on lenses shorter 70mm.

Hmmm, I tried my Tamron 1.4x TC on my 50mm 1.8 and it seems to work fine. I'm not saying that it is a particularly good idea but it does work.
