Everyone has to start somewhere, but they look like snapshots to me. In your other thread you said, "...i need to PP them but haven't had the time...", yet you posted them anyway. I get the same feeling here that you didn't take the time to think an idea through before you took the shot & then didn't try to make it look better with PP before you posted it/them?

Do you think that might be why it's been 10 hours since you posted without getting any comments?

I'd spend more time trying to get the image right in the camera then shooting quickly and trying to fix in PS.

Like PhotosGuy said there isn't really anything that pops. Just get out there and shoot some more and worry about PS later.

Hey man, no worries. I didn't know what the hell I was doing when I first started shooting/PP'ing....(and I still don't for the most part. :) )

Everytime you put that camera to your eye, think..."What am I trying to show my audience?" Like, it appears you enjoy photographing light trails...so why'd you leave a stationary car in the picture? I think if you had cropped out that car, the picture would have been better. Just my 2 cents.

Also, do some reading online...look at other peoples work and how they accomplished it.

Klackey, i know what you mean about getting it right in the camera...but in my opinion its hard to get a night picture right looking through the viewfinder..

Azar, yea...i don't know if this matters but i PP in picasa, I am still learning on how to shoot, and learning about all the features on my camera still, I am using full Manual trying to learn everything.

I'm guessing no tripod for the last two? Grab a trip, even a cheaper one, and set the timer (so your finger depressing the shutter doesn't shake the camera) and the results will be much sharper.

I have a tripod...i didn't think pushing the shutter would shake it enough to mess it up...i will have to try that the next night its decent out... Thanks Klackey

No problem. I remember when someone told me that for the first time and I was like "DUH!" lol

I would also set the camera up to use mirror lockup, two second timer, and a remote shutter release (I use a wired one). I have the same camera and do the same thing when I do night shots. It will cut down on a lot of "out of focus" shots.

Not to be harsh but i really don't get anything out of any of these pictures. Like was stated by Frank, they all just look like snapshots with no intent to portray or convey anything whatsoever.

1) In all the day shots the lighting is drab and overcast with no life. Find some sun, shoot in the early morning/sunset hours.
2) With the truck, ya cant really do much to make it look "sexy" so find a better background that fits the vehicle type. A work site for example.
3) Those night shots, uh, what were you going for? Simply light trails? The back corner of the Honda in the first is horribly distracting and serves no purpose. In the second the light trails are barely visible over the snow berm and don't go anywhere. Light trails in a city for example are much more appealing because there is other points of interest in the picture.

Keep shooting and practice practice practice. Honestly I wouldn't waste time PP'ing these.

Thanks HwK...i know what you mean...like i said im still trying to figure out the features of the camera for different scenary and subjects...

Cal, What exactly is Mirror Lockup? sorry if its a stupid question.

Thanks guys

Hey RyanGSams

I think your first shot would be better if you had a panning shot, not sure my english is correct, but if you follow the car with your camera at the exact same speed use TV mode at 60-125 shutterspeed you will get blurry sorroundings and a sharp truck. Maybe you already knew this... And one rule is to have the subject framed so it has room to move in the picture, so in this case you should have more room in front the truck than behind. You dont have "image editing ok" on, but I cropped your image maybe you see the difference.

If you want me to remove the picture just say so :)

Yea i see the difference, i know what you are talking about, never tried doing it yet though...

My first time I stood at a trackday event, panning all the cars, had 700 shots to go through when I got home, but not many keepers. But the ones that looked good, I really liked, so after that I have been panning more... gets better and better as in more keepers, less shots.
