At least, that's what they're called here. Some variety of "Day Lily". They're from Moms garden a week ago.
The sky was overcast which really popped the saturation.

they are beautiful Frank
lillium tigrinum

I had wondered was your mom growing cars as you came back from your visit with (as I thought ) no flowers to show for it http://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_eek.gif

my tiger lilies have come and gone
I had masses of them. yellow.
they fell over
as the dog goes into the flowering bushes all the time and knocks them over
they are so tall

do these give off the same pungent 'aroma' I wonder.
it comes into the bedroom as the flowers are , or were when in bloom, growing right outside the window

the stamen is so clear.
really see how much in the last shot
the middle shot is like an offering to the godshttp://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_cool.gif
the first is lovely showing the whole bunch
wonderful colour

Thank's Marie. I can always count on you for an interesting review! ;) I'm glad that you liked them.
Yes, they do have a strong scent. Luckily we don't have a resident dog to knock them over here. Lucky for him! Mom can still move pretty fast! (Come to think of it, Grandma could too, when she wanted to!) :D

I have a white & purple variety to process & post soon that just appeared this year. Some birds must have carried the seeds in.

Cool lily shots. I have yet to see this type of lily IRL.
Thanks for sharing Frank.

Very nice, Frank! I have a whole bunch of these in the backyard (more accurately, the better half has a bunch of these in our backyard) ... note to self ... get off internet (and arse) and go take pictures of beautiful flowers right out the back door.

Thanks, everyone.
Jay, I've been seeing these along the road everywhere lately. All that rain must have been good for them! ;-)

I mean the aroma (smell would suit better) http://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_lol.gif from mine seems very strong Frank
not so much a perfume as pungenthttp://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_mad.gif
but one gets used to it and even starts to like it:lol:

glad to hear about your mother  :D

Awesome shots! I don't have any patches of them growing around here - just single lilies, usually on the side of the road.

I really like the lighting in that last one, Frank. Hope you don't mind me jumping into the fray ... I snapped a few this afternoon ... not overly excited by them but here's one anyway:

Hope you don't mind me jumping into the fray Jump in anytime, guys! That's what POTN is for, if anyone cares what I think! ;-)
I'm glad you got out, Jay! Nice shot. I'd blend some color into the white spots at the left.

These are beautiful, Frank. Alng with mimosa blooms and kudzu, they symbolize summer to me. I've taken a few shots, but nothing nearly as good as these. Well done.
