View Full Version : Not able to "get photos in RAW" using PSE3.01 and new Raw plug-in

Iv'e installed update 3.01 and the new photo Raw 3.1. My camera is a Rebel XT and I can "open" RAW files after they are on the hard disk from the standard editor, but when attempting to download files from the camera (get photos) or alow Adobe Photo Downloader to download files, I always get a message that "this device does not contain any photos or other supported media". I would really apreciate any help you can give.

Are you using a card reader or hooking up the camera to the computer? I think there's a glitch in Windows that doesn't want to see the files unless you have a card reader.

CyberPet, you were right. I put my card in a reader and it downloaded just fine. I wonder if this is a problem with Windows XP or the Camera Raw plug in. Either way, I feel better that I haven't done something that caused it. Thanks a lot! :)

It's Windows XP I think (could be Mac OS X too, like the drivers for the camera are so new that none of the operating systems recognize them while hooking up the camera directly to the computer).

Believe it or not under mac os9 the camera is recognised as a separate hard drive but under macosx the camera is not recognised without the canon software oriphoto.
A card reader though works fine.

Nikolas, really... well as the old people say: It was better before. :D

I know that I had problems too with Mac OS X (10.3), so I knew it couldn't be just Windows. I have yet to install Tiger (10.4), so I'm not sure that would work either.

Thank the one we believe in that card readers work!

I don't even download pictures directly from the camera anymore anyways. I can't remember the last time I did that. The card reader is much faster and my PSE 3 automatically recognizes when I put in a new card to download and it kicks on to download the pics.
