Hi, Has anyone had any experience with using flash for motocross events, currently have the EOS20D and 70 to 200 2.8L IS and was wondering which would be the best to buy?Would need to give me a high frame rate still and enable me to shoot from about 5 or 6 meters in distance from the track side on some jumps which are heavily back lit.Any suggestions please.

Oh, interesting question, something I'd be interested in an answer to as well as I intend on taking some motocross shots in the not too distant future.

I shot my first motorcross event back in April and to my surprise some of the media was using anything from the 550EX to Quantums. Personally I try not to use flash during any sporting event. I like to capture action in it's natural surroundings. If you do decide to go with flash have plenty of batteries.

Cheers,Will not be using the flash much myself but there is allways that one occasion where i might need to have one handy.Think i will stick with one of the Canon ones just need to make my mind up on which one.The 580EX is looking the way to go at the moment so will do a little more research before ordering one. Thanks again for the replies.

I see you've already got a 550EX Speedlite. Have you considered using that, as it is a powerful flash and ought to do the job?
