Liberty Belle was taken a couple of weeks ago, the others at Wings Over Houston 10-31-09. The "Sprit of Gary Austin" refers to a gentleman who worked for the CAF and was largely responsible for the "conversion" of Diamond Lil to Ol' 927. He passed away shortly before Wings Over Houston. The C17 crewman was making tribute to his friend. Texas Raiders first airshow in 7 years.

1. Photo Fanny,was used in an episode of Cold Case,passed off as a B-26 Marauder with the art covered.

Bringing this one back up to the front row. ;)

This is a special plane. It was restored to it former glory with this paint job. This plane was used in the 1949 Berlin Airlift and was repainted after years with different colors on her.

Nice stuff Frank! That B-25J and the Hurricane look to be very, very nasty airplanes in their day! I'd hate to be on the recieving end of either of those two. See if you can find the old book "Whip" by Martin Caiden about a squadron of B-25s flown like fighters. Each had 14 .50 calibers all firing forward! Besides the 8 in the nose, the later B-25J had 2 cheek mounts on either side of the nose, & the top turret was also aimed forward.

The "J" was the grandfather of the A-10? A friend's friend said he was on one of the pacific islands early in WWII. They called in a air strike & one of these showed up. It seemed to stop in the air when it let loose & it cleared every bit of brush off a hillside. Then it just kept going after the one pass & nothing was left moving on the hill.

Just wondering if anyone has shots of WWII Pacific Marine nose art (B25 PBJ-1D)? My grandpa served with the VMB-423 and I can't seem to find ANYTHING.

In return I humbly offer something I made for a project involving my goalie helmet, but didn't use.

Thanks. That's at Coolidge, AZ which has one surviving WWII hangar from when it was a bomber-training base.

It may fall to the wrecking ball but there is an effort underway to save it!

A couple from 2010 static display at a Blue Angels show. The first is a Navy N3N-3 primary trainer bi-plane. The sign attached to the prop(yellow rope) said it was nicknamed "Yellow Peril" although it has "Spirit of Tuskegee" painted on the cowling. The second is a MIG.
