Another great turnout at Pattisons West in Federal Way, WA last night. The home of Olympic Medal winners Apolo and J R Celski. At intermission was roller derby! Taken with the 1Ds/70-200.

Now I know hes on skates, but that is one really tall guy, right? Maybe its just an optical illusion...

LOVE the speed shots, but I am a little biased....... I skate too! Those guys are extreme athletes and great people.
Yes Michael is really, really tall in person.

I am actually on my way out he door to do another shoot this morning...then the main event is back at Pattisons West tonight where all the big names will be on the floor.

Nothing wrong with hot chix, but if you want a sport to succeed, it should be on the merits of the competition and athleticism of the skaters. That just seems to cheapen the sport IMO.

That is so funny... I used to go to Pattisons West ALL the time when I was younger. Then got into ice hockey and threw away the roller blades. I live about 5 minutes from there now.

Anyways, great shots. Were you using of camera flashes, I'm assuming?
