Hello everyone,
I noticed a strange problem with my 20D this morning. on Sunday the 3rd of July I tokk about 34 pictures in the RAW mode. when I downloaded the images I noticed that two of the images were JPG and not RAW...Also these two images were in the middle of the whole lot. I remember never to have changed the format from RAW to JPG during the whole day...the rest of the images were fine and were in RAW format. My camera is a week old with the latest firmware on it...
My question is , is there anyone else who has had a similar problem. this is strange to me because the camera suddenly decided to save two images in the JPG format...and changed back again to RAW format for the rest of the images ...I was using a 1GB Ultra II CF card completely formated before the days shoot...
Any help is appreciated ..
Thanks
Daya

I have had this happen before, but it was my fault !
I switched to Auto mode from Tv, in auto it wont save raw images only JPG ! Are you certain you didnt switch to auto mode for the 2 shots ?

thanks a lot ! that could be the reason ! My wife took those two images and she is uses the Auto mode 80% of the time.
On the other hand Do you have any idea why does it not save the images in RAW when we use auto mode ?
thanks again

If you press the menu button in auto and try to change the resolution, it doesnt offer raw, only jpg as an option, it looks like Canon decided if you shooting in auto, you dont need RAW ! ;)

Actually, it is the Creative Zone modes that allow RAW images. The Basic Zone modes allow only JPEG. This is something I discovered on the first day of using my 20D, which is different from how it worked on the older D60.
