Just posted on www.dpreview.com is the following link that will be informative to those considering the purchase of, or new to owning, a D-SLR and the basics of photography: -

www.canon.co.jp/Imaging/enjoydslr/index.html

Thought it may be of interest to one or two POTN members.

Cheers,
Barry

Not a word about front or back focussing and sending back to the manufacturer to have calibrated. Strangely incomplete!

Good find, Barry. A nice, graphic primer for those new to DSLR cameras (or film SLR cameras for that matter).

Interesting factoid, is that exposure compensation may need adjustment for different colors (Using Camera Features>Exposure Compensation for Various Colors). I had not thought the metering system was color sensitive, but apparently is.
Interesting reading !!

yes I just had a look at the site myself, and surprisingly there were a couple of things that I learnt from it still. I thought it was a very basic site initially but dig deeper and I'm sure there'll be something that you can still learn.

I looked at it a little deeper this evening, and there's some information I picked up as well. I think that the link needs to be preserved. :)

Its an interesting page......I saw it yesterday...haven't had a really good chance to browse through it though. Is a great reference, especially for those just starting with DSLR's

I just read this on DPReview:

UPDATE: We have received news from Canon that the site has been temporarily removed due to the wrong use of sample images.
