Severe banding with my refurbished EOS 1D

Just turned in my six-week-old refurb. EOS 1D after shooting it at ASA 400 for the first time. Wow, unbeleivable amount of horizonal banding in dark areas. The images look great at ASA 200, but in 400, horrible!!
I love this camera, hope the problem is fixable.
Has anyone else has similar problems?

PS.
Has anyone had this problem and if yes, please let me know what the outcome was.

Don't have a 1D, so can be certain of this, but I seem to recall that there was a firmware upgrade that did something to improve the banding problem. You can check here for the latest updates: http://www.canon.co.jp/Imaging/BeBit-e.html
