The Explorer Scouts Mike works with call him "Reverend Hot Rod", & this is his 454 powered '67 Camaro.
He's an ordained Minister who painted the car himself in the GM Concept car facility. You can't see it here, but the stripes continue inside the door posts!
The motor is punched out to 468cid; 11:1 Edelbrock heads; unsure of cam details; 3:55 Chevy 12 bolt rear end; 700 R4 overdrive trans.

He's put 46,000 miles on it since the last rebuild.

Sweet Camaro Frank. Looks very nicely detailed under the hood for a daily driver. :D

Can I assume that Michigan law does not allow different license tags on front and rear, and that those are just for "show?"

Beautiful paint, nice shots!

Curtis, that is a "Vanity plate" bought from the State, so it's legal for the road. I think they're an extra $25/year.
MI doesn't require a front plate anymore, so you can put anything there you want.

Very sweet car :D

That reverent might not be your usual man of the cloth, I get the impression

Best regards,
Andy

Mike is a good guy. I've known him and his car for years. He actually has a little mural of it painted on his garage door or at least he did a few years ago.

He has painted many a concept vehicle for GM and at one time sold a very fine car polish called "Race Glaze"

Good old Mike:)

Is there a market for these cars here in the UK ? If so, how much do they tend to go for ? I know it'll depend on condition and so-on.

I think it might actually be the first American car I'm tempted to buy :-)

Is it possible to put a manual gearbox in one ?

It's possible... but it's hairy :) Blowing a shift with 400 HP behind it is a sizeable disaster..

man that car must fly :)

Well, easier then right hand drive

Check out http://www.musclecarclub.com/main.shtml and browse a bit ... there are a lot of muscle cars that feature a manual gearbox.

Best regards,
Andy

I see even the dice are dyed pink Marie, I'd expected you to say something like...
"Faster for the Master,
but SLOWER for the Mistress!" :D:D:D:D

Blowing a shift with 400 HP behind it is a sizeable disaster.. Yeah, instant 12,000 rpms and a nasty "Bang!" & clunking noises from under the hood. (Bonnett, for you guys that drive on the left) ;)

Nice link, Andy!

I think it might actually be the first American car I'm tempted to buy I always liked the looks of this model. If I see one with a "For sale" sign, I'll post the price. (Better start saving for your gas fund!)

Gary, You might want to have a look at this website for pricing, etc. http://www.carsonline.com/
Shipping might be a little expensive though.

Those old Chevy's are some of the EASIEST cars to convert from automatic trans to manual gearbox and back.

Unless one has an insurance policy in the form of a rev limiter. They are much cheaper than shredding your engine, and I'd bet the Reverend has something like that installed.

Rev limiter? Real men don't use no stinkin' rev limiters! :D:D:D

I'm kind of used to high fuel consumption. I'm proud to say that, on my home to work run I regularly get down to single figure mpg in my Impreza turbo :-)

But I'm guessing that a well sorted camaro will do that during "normal" driving.

Gary.

Single figures? Geeez! Do you mean on a track? I used to get 13mpg from my 383 just driving it arould town!
