here is my first black and white picture, i acutally turned it to b&w, i dont know if that counts, but it was my purpose to have a b&w shot, its of jesus, well a statue of jesus, if you notice we have a bunch of punk ass kids who thought it would be fun to break off the fingers, i guess they will get theres

I like it. Maybe just a little bit lighter? It looks like there might be some detail in the statue. If I may...I think it would look really nice to lighten up the subject just enough to offset it from the trees, but not lose the dramatic backlighing effect.
good composition. nice job.

Oh yeah...you questioned the validity of the B&W. Well, in today's world, yes...you created an authentic B&W. But I think you knew the answer to that one. :D

i thought about taking out that big tree in hte back ground but i dont really know how, so... as you can see i didnt.

A great idea, quite a powerful image, maybe you could crop it above the lower trees to remove some of the dark area ?
