I'm new and I think I just posted my Question on the wrong board, soI'm trying again.

I've been waiting for a while to upgrade my D30 because it seems like something bigger and better is always just around the corner.

Technology seems obsolete almost before you take it out of the box.

My question is: Is this the most megapixels I can expect from Canon in the near future? I'd like to enjoy it for a bit before the new beast rears its ugly (and beautiful) head.

Any help would be appreciated.

How do you define "future"?

This will likely be the best that you will see out of Canon for the next two months. But it will not be the best for the next two years.

You can always sit it out on the sidelines and wait for the next big play, or you can go in and get some experience where you are.

Yes i must say i am tempted, and at the price of £1300
I am considering parting with my D30, 100 - 400L IS & Speedlite 550EX.
all in mint condition.

i never use the speedlite and have only used the Lense (excellent as it may be) 3 times.

hoping for a straight swap.

The only reason I would hold back is the 1.6 crop, used to the 1.3 on my 1D. However a 10D with the new 17-40 f4L is really tempting me to ditch film altogether, my problem is the inconsistant 550EX flash system which I overcome by using film body with 540 EZ when I need shot after shot consistancy on some work I do.

Speaking about inconsistent flash.
