The time lapse feature was one of the reasons I got my G9...bunch of friends and I went to a beach the other day and this is what I got:
Nothing spectacular...but I'm happy nonetheless...first of many :)

Very nice. I just bought a mount to put a camera on my bike to make some time lapse videos, but didn't realise when I bought my G10 that the intervalometer had gone. Shame on Canon indeed.
Now looking for a G9 instead.

In the year and one half I had my G9...i never tried time lapse. What was I thinking? I liked except for someones big butt in the picture:p

Haha thanks for the comments...
I shot a couple the other day as well...nothing revolutionary, but I figure I just have to keep shooting 'till I know what will look good and what not (it's weird visualizing how stuff will look sped up 30-60 times on a little screen...total hit and miss at this point)
Anyways...the newest two:

These are good too. What was the interval for the Bear Mountain shots? I think that's about perfect.
I like the way your shadow keeps growing in the frame as the sun sets. Did you intend that?

Thanks, WCH, really appreciate it :) Yeah, I love the way the clouds move in Bear Mountain. Yeah, the shadow was intentional, though I didn't know how it was going to come out :) I'm just uploading my latest from today :)
And I agree, it's a huge shame the G10/G11 don't do time lapse. It was the single biggest reason I went with a G9. I lucked out and found an absolutely mint one on this board for a fair price :)

Be careful with your sensor.
I cannot recall the details, if it was a 'really long exposure' or a 'time lapse', but I recall seen some guy ruin a Nikon sensor shooting into the sun. I cannot find the link now, but I am sure I read it a few years ago on this forum.

anyone or everyone :)
to be honest, I do not know if this is true or not, and I do not have the time to read up on it, but I just found this old thread:

(again, I have not had the time to read it in detail, so I do not know how relevant it is...)

Just sent a 1/4 inch bolt (same size as the tripod mount-hole)through a phone book and laid it on the back dash... easy easy..

This looks like fun. I'm a PC/Elements 6/Flickr user; does performing downloads from the camera and managing the file require additional software? I would assume the video file size is enormous and if I wanted to edit the file, performing cuts, splices and what not, a video editing software would be needed, but perhaps not essential.
Thanks in advance for teaching an old dog.

Gseries1: That's simply brilliant...thanks! (Unfortunately no use to me as I drive a wagon, but very cool I'll keep that in mind :))
Kevan: I'll look at file sizes, but they're not that bad at all...the file format is AVI, so you would watch it, edit it, etc as any other AVI movie.

Great time lapse, and not only that but those waves peeling left (from the surfer's point of view) are really good. I thought I even saw a surfer on a wave and one walking on the beach.
Where is this? Looks like a good surfspot.

Thanks very much, Mike :)
You're right about the surfers, it's a very popular spot with them...we were sitting there watching them when I decided to see if I can shoot a bit of the scenery.
It was shot in Jordan River on the west coast of Vancouver Island (off the coast of British Columbia, just north of Seattle/Port Angeles).

Very nice again. I ordered a timer remote for my G10, so as soon as it gets here I'll be making some too. :)
The phone book trick is a good idea GSeries, might have to try that too.

I think the idea of time lapse movies are cool and I really like the view from the parcel shelf at the back of the car but come on guys, pick a more interesting subject to shoot as these video's are pretty dull and boring!! the time lapse video's need more action!! perhaps that can be a little project for you :)

Thanks, WCH, much appreciated! Can't wait to see your stuff :)
puzzle: obviously you're better at criticizing than you are at reading. Throughout this thread I've said that these videos are nothing special and that they're simply me trying to get the hang of time lapse photography. I've done a grand total of about 10 time lapse videos in my life. How did your 10th ever photograph look? That's what I thought...
I'm not sure if you've ever done any time lapse movies, but it's not that easy to come up with a subject that'll be interesting sped up 15-30 times...especially not in everyday life. I'm simply getting my feet wet and seeing what works and what doesn't...so chill out.
