I recently was on an 8 day canoe trip in New York/Pennsylvania. Unfortunately, I didn't bring my 20D along because of the water. Fortunately for me, someone on the trip had a 20D with a 28-135 IS USM lens (mmm)... Anyway, I took this picture of a friend of mine who was on the trip. What do you think?

It's a nice shot, she looks like she's relaxing in a tent.
Now I wonder if I hadn't read your text if I would of come up with that feeling?

Great shot, love the pose.... love the lighting, love the look… Great Job :D
I am working on my post processing skills, especially my "glamorizing" skills
I am new here and hope I have not over stepped my bounds, but I thought this would make a great glamour pic…
If you wish me to take this down just let me know...:o
also any comments or criticisms are welcome

I think you have a very pretty friend.
Nice composition. I really like what Bootless did with it...but she's a pretty girl to start with.

I don't know... I think I like the original better.
I have to agree with you.... I too prefer the original.
Some how you lose a lot of character when you "glamorize”.... for me it was just practice... but honestly I like snapshots untouched "the way they are".
again.. Great shot

I was asked by someone how I achieved the "glamour" effect
I was humbled that some one would ask me for advice ... so in my excitment got a bit long winded in my explanation. I though since I spent the time to write it I might as well just post it here too...
I hope it does not bore to many people or make then laugh at my techniques
please feel free to comment
hey i liked what you did with a pic in one of the threads.
what steps do you take to glamorize people.
get rid of the imperfections. u know what im talking about
can you briefly describe how u do it ?
thanks!
this was my reply:
Thank You for the comment.
"warning: this is my "opinion" on how I achieve "the glamour look" and I know nothing :)
There are several ways to achieve such an effect
Here is the quick and dirty method...
This is a list of the basic steps I took in pscs
tweaked levels
smoothed skin a bit (healing tool)
added a bit more color to the lips
unsharpen mask on eyes
ran through neat image
the easiest way to do it would be to first adjust everything the way you want it ...levels, hue/saturation, maybe a touch of unsharpen mask on whole image (if it needs it)
then here is the real "glamour" part
use the healing tool and maybe the clone tool to smooth out the rough spots (try not to over-do it)
make a selection around the lips (if you want to add lipstick) copy paste in new layer (just the lips) adjust "hue/saturation" till u get the color u want.. (you may want to also "smooth the lips with the healing tool and soften a bit)
when you are done tweaking it to the way you want it the easiest way (for me anyway) to achieve that soft "perfect skin) "glamour look" is to use Neat Image http://www.neatimage.com/ (http://www.neatimage.com/) you can download and use the trial to see if you like it (it is designed to take out noise, but also works to achieve that "soft smooth glamour look"
when using neat image I use the standard method (follow the instructions) the only thing I tend to change is one setting in the "noise reduction amounts" and that is to adjust the "y" 60% seems to be the default and the higher you go the more "smoother" it looks (just play around and zoom in to find the perfect amount)
oh and I save a copy of the image before i do neat image, because u need to flatten it for it to work...
and In the end maybe a unsharpen mask on the eyes
K now again I am by no means I pro and I am very sure I am not doing some or most or all of it correct so remember this is my opinion and and way of doing the glamour effect but some others may have a better method or just play around that is what I do..."read a bit... play a bit... etc"
I hope this helps I got a bit long winded on this one... I hope you can follow it
I am also going to post this on the forum...
again thanks for the comments...

Don't get me wrong, I like your rendition as well. It just seems better served in a studio/posed shot.. (Not that I know what I'm talking about) :)
I'm copying/pasting your technique into my "Post Processing Techniques" folder.
